I was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee but was raised here in New England.  Most of my childhood was spent just outside of Davis Square in Somerville.  My dad pastored a small protestant church and my mom worked as (and still does) a medical secretary.  My sister Ashley was born when I was in the third grade.  With nine years between us, we were essentially two “only children.”

I went to Eastern Nazarene college in Quincy, MA.  I majored in Sociology because I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.  In an ironic twist of fate, I failed a freshman physics class (I literally slept in class – very embarrassing story) and ended up having to take another “lab science” my junior year in order to graduate.  It was in this Health class that I got to know Dorothy, my wife.

Following my passion for photography was one of the best things I ever did in my life – aside from marrying the love of my life and having a daughter with her.  I was one of those guys who did the 9-5 grind everyday and had my own piece of real estate to show for it…a 6x6 padded cubicle with locking drawers, a company computer that never ran right and an old rolling office chair that never seemed to be comfortable no matter which way I sat in it.  I do miss the people though.

I started photographing weddings for “real” in 2006.  It’s been an incredible ride ever since.  When the end of 2007 rolled around and I had 20 weddings booked for 2008 already, Dorothy said to me, “You’re going to have to quit your job!”  I raised my hands in victory and exclaimed, “I know!!!”  That’s a moment I’ll never forget.

Now, I LOVE what I do…finally!  Capturing the true emotion of a moment is what I love best, which means people are my favorite subjects.  Whether it is a wedding, a portrait session, or simply fun, I get giddy when I know I’ve captured something special.

I always challenge myself to learning something else and try something new with my photography.  I get bored easily (just ask my wife) and it’s no different with photography.  I never want to look at my photos from a year ago and think they look like the photos I just took.  They should look better.  Always.

If I’m not holding a camera in my hand, I probably have my daughter Lily in my arm.  She’s my favorite photography subject of all time.  Her endless expressions drive me crazy!  When I’m not hanging out with my family, I’m probably out taking pictures somewhere or skiing up in the mountains of New England.  It’s rare you will find me sitting at home on the couch…unless, of course “Lie to Me” is on.
