For the past 60 plus years photography has been an "on again", "off again" hobby. I bought my first camera {a Brownie} when I was ten. Since then I have run the gamut of cameras, from point and shoot, 35mm and medium format. I got my first digital in 2006.
And, what a difference! No more taking 20 rolls of film on a trip, finding a reputable place to have them processed, and if you're lucky, maybe half are usable. Shooting digital is a whole new experience and challenge. It took a while to get used to changing the WB, ISO, and EV on the spot, and I'm still learning. If errors are made they can usually be fixed or minimized in Photoshop.
I love to travel and was fortunate to have lived in France while my husband was stationed there. In his "off time" we visited many European countries. Since retiring we have traveled to all 50 states, 36 National Parks, and parts of Canada.
My main interest in photography is nature, especially animals. I also enjoy taking action, but if the situation arises, I'll shoot anything that looks interesting or different.
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but since joining HDP, I've learned a lot of new ones!
Here is a sampling of Marian's favorite images...
