Mariann’s Bio

As someone who loves photography, I would have to say I have the

perfect life - family, pets and I am in the travel business!  Everywhere

I turn there is someone or something new and amazing to photograph.

My interest in photography started a very long time ago using my

mother's Brownie camera.  I remember being about twelve when I begged

her for a roll of film and a day to go and shoot what I wanted. I thought

for sure I would end up as a famous photographer with all my pictures

making the local paper but I was 12 and life went on.  I loved to capture

the memories of people and places but didn't totally understand how

important it was until my mother passed away and I inherited the

family pictures.  You should have seen how surprised I was to have

found among her family photos the pictures I took when I first used

her Brownie.

With the kids grown up I now have the free time to learn more about

the art and the craft of photography. I have been trying to learn more

about the technical aspects of photography.  Being a member of the

Hockomock Digital Photographers has helped me learn about the

different aspects of photography and understand why some of my images

just don't come out like I had hoped.  My goal is that my photos touch

emotions - be it funny, sad, thought provoking, whimsical or innocence.

One of my functions with HDP is to organize our field trips. I try to

schedule opportunities for our members to get out there to share

photographic experiences and expertise.

I've selected some of my photos from my own travels and from some

of the field trips that we've gone on this past year.  I hope you enjoy them!
